We have tailored the design of our outdoor garden studio room to comply under NSW State Environmental Planning Policy (Exempt and Complying Development Codes) 2008. This means they are preapproved for local councils to automatically allow the construction of this structure.
Yes and No. The studio can be built anywhere on your property so long as its behind the front of your house. It also has to be a minimum of 1m from your side and rear boundaries. We recommend 1.5m setbacks to still allow functional use of these spaces
We have designed the floor areas to be just under 20 square metres. Our studios are typically 5.35m wide, 3.6m deep and 2.5m high, we also have a 4m x 4m solution for narrow lots as well.
Yes, under the state code, the purpose of the room has to be deemed not habitable, which means an outdoor toilet or bathroom can be installed
Bedrooms are not allowed under state code as they are deemed habitable rooms. Nor are kitchens. The code asks for rooms which are not used frequently or for extended periods of time. Meaning its all up to you and your interpretation of the code. So you could use it as an outdoor office, studio, shed, workshop, gym etc…
